I’m Snober Mehraj—a determined media enthusiast carving my path in Journalism and Mass Communication at the distinguished Women’s College on M.A. Road, Srinagar.
In 2018, as a 9th-grade student, I embarked on a transformative journey with the Kashmir Education Initiative (KEI). Once reserved and introverted, my involvement with KEI’s diverse workshops and mentorship programs cultivated my communication and leadership abilities, bolstering my confidence and resolve. KEI offered not only financial assistance but also invaluable opportunities for personal development.
In 2021, as my high school scholarship journey with KEI drew to a close, I thought that chapter of my life had ended. Yet destiny had other plans—KEI was quietly setting the stage for a new beginning. I vividly recall that momentous October day in 2022 when an unexpected call from KEI rekindled a spark within me.
In that instant, I recognised that I had evolved beyond the confines of being just a scholar, blossoming into an alumna and I can become a passionate volunteer. The nurturing embrace of KEI’s vibrant community not only honed my skills but also awakened a deep desire to give back. Each interaction became a reminder that endings often herald new beginnings, and every challenge is an opportunity to transform.
Today, my story with KEI feels like an ever-evolving narrative—one without a definitive end, a beautiful “to be continued” that inspires me to keep growing, learning, and giving back.
