Bisma Akram, a brilliant 9th grade student, is a shining star among her peers and a testament to how KEI can make a real difference in the life of a student. She is one of three children of a family in Srinagar. She does not let financial or other difficulty deter her aspirations to become an oncologist. She and her elder sister have received mentorship and financial support from KEI for the last few years. Bisma secured 5th position in her last exams conducted by Directorate of School Education, Kashmir. Bisma was one of many KEI Scholars who received mentoring and counseling by KEI Volunteers in 2011. These sessions helped her cope with personal as well as educational issues. In Rubia Akram, Bisma's mothers words, "Financial support is important but mentoring and counseling of these children is also the critical need of the hour. Families like ours have dreams which can be realized only through organizations like KEI".
