Faisal Farooq is currently the Principal Scientist in the Watson Health group of IBM Watson, where he works on AI based next generation healthcare technology improve patient care. He is an expert in applying machine learning in the healthcare domain. His general areas of interest are in machine learning and natural language processing. He has published various papers in areas of machine learning, handwriting, biometrics and text analysis in multiple journals and conferences. Prior to joining IBM Watson, he was a Senior Key Expert (Distinguished Scientist) at Siemens Healthcare. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University at Buffalo, where he worked as a graduate research assistant in Center of Excellence for Document Analysis and Recognition (CEDAR). He also completed multiple research internships at the IBM Watson. He also serves on the review board of various conferences and journals in addition to organizing many machine learning in medical field based workshops at venues like ICPR, ICML and NIPS. Faisal is one of the founders of KEI and believes that positive change in the society can be brought about by education. Faisal is currently the program director and manages the execution of various projects for KEI.
